Competing as a Club Member

The Club organises a series of sprint and hill climbs throughout the year for members with suitable cars. We currently run around ten GT40 replicas from 5 to 7 litres, two supercharged Dodge Vipers, a Brock Cobra Coupe, a Viper Comp Coupe, a 6.2 Chevy powered GTD R42, an X-Power MG SV and a '62 FIA E-Type coupe with 310bhp.

We also encourage those who circuit race in appropriate or similar cars to contact and join us as we welcome you too.

Competing with the GTs

Club members have always been interested in motorsport and in this ever increasingly policed, speed restricted environment, what better way to stretch your car's legs than by entering some organised competition. The UK is renowned for its grass-roots culture of club motorsport and there are events and classes for just about every vehicle type going, from the lowly but no doubt fun Citroen 2CV, all the way up to big engined (some ex F1) single seaters, there's something for everyone. As a club we have previously focused primarily on Sprints and Hillclimbs, as it pits driver and car against the clock at a number of hills and circuits, with the fastest time generally being the class winner. Also, being against the clock, you do not have to be concerned about damage caused by other cars/drivers or associated incidents, but merely concentrate on your own run and in time you will hone some very useful driving skills too - top places are often separated just by 100ths of a second.

A number of members also compete at circuit racing events, which normally comprise of practice/qualifying sessions, then one or two race sessions over a day or weekend. These can could be anything from 15 to 30 mins in the norm, unless they are endurance events in which case they may last many hours, complete with pit stops and drver changes where required. An increase in expense, a little more risk of vehicle damage but a LOT more time on track so there's something for everyone really. Where the club has excelled to date, is with the knowledge freely available and friendly nature of all the competitors, encouraging each other and helping where necessary.

Everyone is a 'first timer' at some point, but we always have someone to help steer you through your first events. Visit the Magazine and News sections as we will be including 'Gettting Started' guides shortly and you can also make contact here.
