Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How can you run the Club free of charge?

A: We are able to drastically reduce our operating costs by moving from a printed quarterly magazine to an on line current affairs magazine. All the work of running the club is done on a voluntary basis by a small dedicated team.

Q: So how do you fund this reduced operating cost?

A: We have three primary income streams; advertising on the website, DVD and merchandise sales and a charge levied from members competing in our sprint and hillclimb series.

Q: I thought you said this was free, so what is this charge about?

A: We encourage all members with suitable cars to become a Competition Member and compete in our sprint and hillclimb series. The Club has some direct costs associated with running this series and these costs will be shared equally among the competitors. The overall costs are quite low, so this is a nominal charge and it only applies to active competitors. Membership and access to the website to view and download material will be free to all members.

Q: The videos stop or fail to run smoothly, why is this?

A: We host our online video content on Youtube. If you are having problems it is almost certainly due to a slow download rate from your Internet Service Provider (ISP), which is beyond our control. We are sorry about this, so to overcome it we offer all the video content on the site to buy at DVD quality, please visit our online shop.

Q: Why can't I download pictures from the site?

A: You can view photos free online or purchase a full set on disc from our online shop, revenue from the sale is one of the ways we cover our operating costs.

Q: Is there a way of meeting other Club members?

A: Surely, just come to any of our events and introduce yourself, we will be sure to make you welcome.

Q: Why do I have to join GT40s.com before I can use the Forum?

A: Our Club forum section is generously provided by Ron Earp at GT40s.com. Ron, whilst having "GT40" blood in his veins, is separate from us and everyone must agree to abide by his Forum rules before they start posting. You can view threads on the site without joining, however if you really like these cars we urge you to contribute to this fantastic information resource. Gt40s.com is one of the best things to happen to the GT40 community in years.
